Week 3 Blog, Due September 15 by 11:00 pm

Today I let you see your current grade.  I would like to know if you are happy about your grade or not.  If you are happy about your grade, what will you do to maintain it?  If you are not happy about your grade, what are you going to change to raise it up to where you want it?  In my classes, grades are earned, not given. If you do not do the work, you will not do very well in this class.  For the past few weeks, we have been doing basic stuff to build our foundation, but it will get more difficult in the coming weeks. So, I want you all to do some self-reflection and decide what you need to do or change now to be successful in the future. Remember, you must post an original comment plus comment on someone else's post for full credit.  Keep it friendly and clean please.  If you have trouble posting, remember you can use edmodo.com, twitter, email, or text.  Some wise words to remember:

  1. I would like to raise up my grade, its descent but I would prefer a higher grade. To achieve a higher grade I must get better organized, maybe buy a planner to keep track of my assignments in class.

    1. A planner would be extremely helpful. I am used to keeping track of due dates and such in my head, but I can recall a few time when things have slipped my mind. A planner is something I should start considering of getting as well.

    2. From my opinion, having a planner is what honestly got me through last year. With all the work I had in the first two weeks of school last year, it was hard to keep up without one. I would totally recommend you getting a planner. It makes school a lot easier.

    3. To have a planner is all good and nice but you also have to have the intent of using it. I bought a planner and write stuff in it but as soon as I get home I forget about it. I'm trying to get into the habit of actually taking the time of opening my backpack, checking my planner, and do homework. Good luck with your planner.

    4. Planners are really good to have!! I have onw myself but I need to start using it and remembering to check it! I've been bad about keeping up with it and I know it would help if I did because I have really bad memory and I forget everything:(

    5. You could also try setting reminders on your phone. That's really helpful for me because sometimes I forgot to look in my planner until its too late.

  2. I am new to the class, so I currently have a hundred. I know that it will not always be this easy as the year progresses though. To keep a high grade, I must study and do all of my homework. Procrastination is something I will try to make a thing of the past.

    1. Procrastination does not simply disappear, it will linger on the end of your shoulder. It is probably hard to counteract it since it's presence is so strong. The feeling of not doing anything valuable while time is speeding up. Ever so slightly, unless your going to make major changes in lifestyle, procrastination will always still be there.

    2. Yes Cody, I am aware procrastination does not just disappear. I did say I would try to make it a thing of the past, not that I'd just get rid of it like if it were a crumb on my shirt or something.

    3. Immer just do what Hockman tells us. That if you think you can then you will, eventually.

  3. I am not happy with my grade what-so-ever. In order to raise my grade to where I would like it to be, I will continue taking all the extra credit opportunities and completing my work to the best of my ability. Like others, one of my main problems is procrastination. I have been slowly getting back on track and am trying to stop procrastinating altogether.

    1. I also hope I get rid of my procrastination because it only leads to senioritous and that's not good especially in AP classes.

    2. I agree procrastination is my main problem as well. And I will work on not doing that at all cost.

    3. I totally agree. Procrastination is my worst enemy! But yes, I will do everything I can do stop it and get myself back on track by doing my work the best I can and on time!

    4. I procrastinate as well!! It is such a bad habit that we must get rid of! Hopefully all of trying hard to get rid of it will reflect on our grade.

  4. I wasn't all that excited about my grades, but neither was I not expecting a low grade due to a missing assignment. Although, the grade may be low currently, I did turn in that assignment. So in the future, I would need to keep my tab open on to Edmodo therefore seeing if there are any extra credit. Also I would try to ween my self off of putting my work late. As in I usually do not start til around nine p.m. which leaves me stressed in the morning and only a few assignments done. So in a sense, I should probably do my homework by the time I get home.

    1. It's good to do your work early because then you get a lot of free. Thus preventing from more procrastination.

  5. I am not happy with my current grade and disappointed myself for not taking advantage of the extra credit.Next time I will definitely take advantage of it and I will work harder to pass and keep my grade up to at least an A.

    1. I definitely need to start taking advantage of the extra credit as well . I think that will definitely help my grade by a lot.

    2. We should pay more attention in class next time and hopefully do the extra credits when we get another chance to.

      Delete
    3. Taking advantage of extra credit will do very well for out grade, but doing the work in the first place will help. But we should always take the extra credit to get a higher grade.

  6. I am not happy with my grade and I'm trying to be a better student. I have even bought a planner to try to be more organized and actually do homework. Here i am trying to be a better student and try to be college ready. I currently have an 84 but I have been to easy going about school for too long and I will try to actually spend time doing homework at home instead of procrastinating and waiting until the class right before to start it which is usually third period.

    1. Don't worry, you're not the only person that procrastinates. If we try to organize ourselves better, maybe we can put the procrastination behind us and we will have better grades in the class.

  7. I guess you could say that I have a decent grade, being a low B. It's not failing but its not where I want to be. I promised myself that as my senior year I would get all A's & complete all of my work. I am still having some issues with procrastinating with my work & I need to change that. Making sure I do all my work on time and studying is the only way to make sure I pass with a grade I want.

    1. True, Jessica. Studying is essential to pass this course. I've always had trouble with graphs, but I did study in order to get the grade I desired. I have faith in you :)

      Delete
    2. That is also my problem. I leave everything to the last second and i end up not doing it, but i am going to change that.

      Delete
    3. I wish my days of procrastinating were over. Unfortunantly, they are not. I need to change that issue as well, and i will also try to complete my work on time and study the things i need to study so i won't be lost.

  8. Yes, im very happy with my grade. I currently have an A, and I will do all I can to keep it. Like taking advantage of the time allowed in 3rd Period Intervention and doing extra credit whenever it is presented to us.

  10. At first I wasn't happy with my grade because it was an 88 but then I checked on parent connect and saw why I had a B and it is what I deserved. But I did the extra credit so hopefully I have an A now :) if I do have an A now, I'll do everything I can to try to maintain it by taking advantage of extra credit, completing my homework and turning it in on time, and also doing the blogs on time!

  12. My grade isn't what I wanted it to be and I also didn't take advantage of the extra credit opportunity. In the future i will set reminders on my phone because a planner may be very helpful but most people won't peek inside until its too late. Studying and seeking for help will be the key to maintaining a high grade.

  13. I was not happy with my grade at all. I was very disappointed. I checked on parent connect and saw what I had done. I then looked at the worksheets I failed and honestly they were all dumb mistakes. I got the grade I deserved and next time when doing worksheets I will make sure to read everything carefully. I also will make sure I read all hand outs given to me. I took the opportunity to the extra credit given to us so hopefully my grade went up.

    1. I agree with you, I also made some dumb mistakes on the worksheets. For example, the quiz like I mentioned on my post, I didn't label the X and Y axis which kept me from getting a 100.

    2. i was disappointed as well with my grade, and i will take advantage of the extra credit as well.

  14. I am pretty ashamed of my grade. I did not expect for one grade to bring me down so low, but I know that it is my fault. I will try my best not to procrastinate because that has been one of my biggest issues in school. I will also try to study a subject if I am having difficulty with it, so I will have a better understanding of it.

  15. I did not like my grade which was because i was unaware of assignments. i think it is due to the fact that by the time I get to 4th period i am out of energy. some thing i will change is i will be more active in class and not fall asleep. i fall asleep because i eat alot before class and eating makes me sleepy. i am understanding everything so far and i know i must not slack off because one topic that i miss is gonna be hard to catch up again.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was not happy with my grade. I'm not failing, but i'm pretty sure i can do better. I just need to catch up. I will make sure to turn in all of my assignments on time. Also, if i'm having problems with a certain topic, i will come to tutorials and get help.

  17. My grade was alright but I do know I am capable of doing way better. One of my biggest issues is staying organized and keeping track of my work. I always end up loosing my work and end up turning it in late. I would like to improve on that this year.

  18. I was not happy with my grade. I did the extra credit in hopes of raising my grade. From now on i'll be sure to do all the work, including the homework.

  19. I'm okay with my grade but I think I can do better than what it is reflecting. Last year I slacked off a lot in majority of my classes and I don't plan on doing that again, so this year I will try to do all my work and stop being so lazy.

  20. I was not happy with my grade at all, especially because I know that I can do better than that. The problem was that I didn't read the assignments carefully and missed some dumb things like labeling the y and x axis on the quiz. On the other hand, I will now concentrate more and recheck my work before turning it in.

  21. I am not happy with my grade and will work hard to improve it. I will start off by paying more attention in class so I can't make sure that I understand everything without any problems. I plan on staying focused and making sure that all homework is turned in when needed to be.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Although my grade wasn't that bad, I still feel as if I could have done better. I honestly haven't been paying much attention in class, so i feel that getting the decent grade i have now is plain luck.I do not wish to base my grades on luck, so I will improve my grade by paying more attention in class and actually learning the material we're supposed to know.

  23. I am not satisfied with my grade. Because I did not do my homework, my grade lowered. In order to raise it, i will do my homework and turn it in on time. I will not procrastinate anymore, because it will cause my grades to take a toll for the worse.

  24. I'm not satisfied with my grade and I'm gonna change it. I'll stay after school and do my work or I'll bug you more. Then I'll manage to figure things out. I'm also going to keep my planner organized for all work to be do on what days. A good thing is that I stopped procrastinating a lot. I will reach an "A" in your class. I just realized that I did the wrong Blog because someone told me :/

  25. I'm not happy with my grade but i know what i did and didn't do. i feel as if i took these couple of weeks for granted, i will work harder now to get my grades up and learn everything i can for the AP test. I hope i can maintain an A in the class by keeping my self more organized and writing assignments down in my planner.

  26. I'm not happy with my grade but i know i earned that. I need to work a little harder and make sure i know the due dates in class.

  27. I am not happy with the grade I have in this class. I understand everything that is going on, but I tend to forget about the homework that it is due. If I was a bit more organized with my work I would probably have my homework ready for class. It isn't that I don't have a planner or that I procrastinate, I just need to get my binder organized for this specific class.

  28. i was absent the day that the students were told their grade but i am predicating that it is either a low 70 or high 60. i didnt do the first homework correctly because i didnt know what to do. i should have asked the teacher for help and or a student. i plan on asking for help next time i am confused and or do not get the work. p.s. this is my first blog so im not sure how this works

I will try my hardest to not begin to slack off because i know i will fall way behind if i do.i will attempt to complete all assignments given and ask questions and really get help if i do not understand something. i want to really understand as much possible about physics to pass the AP test.

  30. I am not happy with my grade because last year I was scoring in the high "A" range in Pre-AP physics with Ms. Pascual. To resolve this, I am going to adhere to a more studious and focused routine in hopes of attaining at least an "A" in AP physics. This means that I will do all my homework on time and participate in all class activities.

  36. I don't really know my current grade for this class but it's probably low for the moment. It's only temporary since I'm going to put the effort and work to earn a better grade. I have a tendency to turn in assignments late but that's not going to happen anymore.
