Week 4 Blog, Due Sunday, September 22nd by 11 pm
The past few weeks we have done a lot of graphing. I want to know if you are still struggling with any part of what we have been doing. To recap, we have graphed data, looked for a relationship in the data (linear/proportional, inverse, quadratic, etc.). If you still need some practice in one of the areas, please let me know. If you are more comfortable now, but still not 100% understanding it, then tell me that. I will use this information to plan activities for warm ups or exit slips to give you guys some extra credit. If most of you are okay with going forward, then I can plan for less review. Just a heads up, the next concept we will study will not have all linear data like constant velocity did, so I need to know if you are still struggling with the linearizing piece. Also, if you haven't tried graphing with Excel, I would like you to try that sometime this week and let me know if you are having trouble with that. If you are having trouble with matching graphs with motion or motion maps, you can check out this website for extra practice/help: http://www.theuniverseandmore.com/ This game works best in google chrome. If you have any questions, please let me know. Remember, in order to receive full credit, you must post an original comment PLUS comment on someone else's post. If you have any problems posting, you can email me your responses, post it on edmodo.com, etc. Happy Blogging!

I am feeling fairly comfortable with graphing. The motion maps are probably the only thing I'm not so sure about, but that is probably because they're new to us.Perhaps, all I need is a little more practice on those.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the motion maps were sort of tricky at first, but I got the hang of it by the second time around. Practice makes perfect.
DeleteI also think that we need just a little more practice.
DeleteTo me motion maps was one of the easier portions to learn. I feel confident in creating them. With more practice I will be an expert.
DeleteI agree with Jorge. Motion maps was fairly easy it just takes some getting use to. Keep practicing and good luck. :)
DeleteI feel very confident with the graphing portion of physics. I understand the material well enough to continue onto the next concept. I think that we should move onto the next concept by next week at the least.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Edgar. Although it is imperative for everyone to understand the concepts being taught in the class, it is an AP class and should be moving fairly quickly. Tutorials exist for a reason...Some people move quicker than others.
DeleteI feel somewhat confident with graphing. I wouldn't mind going over it just a little more but overall it's fairly easy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Joceline I don't mind going over some more graphing
DeleteMore practice would help us be better. So it would not hurt to go over it more, but we could move on on time.
DeleteI feel that my understanding of graphing has improved since we first began but it is still not 100%. The only thing I don't get is linearizing the graphs. Besides that everything else I understand and am able to do with ease.
ReplyDeletei agree with jorge i still don't really understand how to linearize a graph but i also haven't tried doing too much to improve either though.
DeleteIm confident with my graphing so far except for motion. I agree with Immer, im probably just struggling with it because its new to me. I would like to work on quadratics since we havently really gone over those. Thanks
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was also thinking that we probably just need more practice on it since we have never really worked with them before.
DeleteYeah maybe i'm struggling with some of these things because it's kinda new. And yeah reviewing always helps on the areas that need the most work.
DeleteI'm not stuggling that much anymore I'm starting to get the graphing part.
ReplyDeleteThat's great ! If you ever need any help don't bother in asking because the best way to learn and understand a concept is by teaching it :)
DeleteI feel very confident about understanding how to graph data or looking at relationships in the data, a little more overview would not hurt at all. I would like to do more even though I know how to do it already. Practice makes perfect so I would like that, more practice.
ReplyDeleteI understand graphing motions and all but I agree with denisseh that we should practice more so we will know it really well.
ReplyDeleteI feel confident about graphing and somewhat confident about motion graphs. Sometimes I have some trouble linearizing an equation, I might need more practice with that. Overall, I'm getting the hang of graphing.
ReplyDeleteI agree linearizing an equation can be a bit difficult but practice would help greatly.
DeleteI feel about the same as you do. I am feeling better because we have really done many graphs. I think that has helped at lot of students.
DeleteTo say the truth I really don't even remember how to linearize a graph.
Deletei do not understand linearization much sadly :c everything else so far i understand but that seems to be my only problem in the class so far.
ReplyDeletei forgot about that lol that something else i have to review this weekend so i can get an A on the test.
DeleteYep same here, I don't really understand the purpose of linearizing a graph. I know how to do it but I don't get what's the point of doing it. I'll try to find out before the exam.
DeleteSame here I find linearization a bit difficult and specially without the paper Mrs.Ego gave us, but overall I'm fine.
DeleteI feel pretty confident about the graphing even though I struggle every here and there. I know that if I keep practicing more and work on the review I will be fine for the test. I'm still not 100% confident about the motion graphs though.
ReplyDeleteYeah graphing gets hard but the only ways we can get better is by practicing and doing the review.
DeleteYeah I agree with you, a little review won't do us harm and it'll help us understand the concept a bit better. We might not master the concept with the first review, but like Lucero said, we can get better by practicing
DeleteThe motion maps are not too bad, i'm confident with the graphing but i would like a little more practice to ensure that i pass the exam.
ReplyDeleteI feel that I'm okay but I need some help reading the velocity graphs. I some how get confused and make them wrong. I know when it comes to the position vs time graph if it has a negative slope it is moving away and is better to say " the object is moving aways negatively at a constant sleep." I known the review will be a great help for the test.
ReplyDeleteI feel somewhat comfortable with graphing but like others have said linearizing is still a bit tough. I understand motion maps for the most part. A little more review wouldn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteI understand the motion maps pretty good and graphing is alright but I get confuused with the displacement and average velocity questions.
ReplyDeleteI also have some problems with those kinds of questions.
DeleteIt took me awhile to understand the motion map but once i realized each dot was a second, then i got it. Now I need to study and tell the difference between speed and velocity. I need to work on finding the average velocity and average speed the most and studying the review will definitely help.
ReplyDeleteRemember when finding the average velocity you use displacement/time, and when finding speed you use total distance/divided by time
DeleteI was struggling with these graphs so much at first but along the way i have been feeling better about them. I think the ones I have troubles with the most are the velocity graphs but the more you have explained them the more I understand them. I would love it if you do the warm-ups and exit slip things. Can we please go over linearizing graphs again? I think I have forgotten how to some of those problems. Thanks for the reminders of what we have learned and the website.
ReplyDeletei also have problems with the velocity graphs but i think the more we go over them the better we'll understand them.
DeleteVelocity graphs are a bit on the hard side for me as well I think the extra practice will clear this up for me
DeleteI am feeling pretty confident with my graphing skills. Although I do feel as if I am lacking with the motion and velocity graphs and how to find the equations and average speeds. I would appreciate it if we had more warm-ups to review over that material. And also can we go over linear graphs again I think i'll remember how to do it once I see it.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I don't need any help on graphing, though I'm not going to let arrogance get in the way. I'm going to further understand these concepts by studying just a little more. When I get the chance, I'm probably going to review over linearizing data because I feel that I still don't fully understand it.
ReplyDeleteRemember that overconfidence is not going to help in the long run but I will trip you up and make you fall. Although, graphing isn't that hard for some it is difficult when you try to make sure the lines are perfect or to make it just right. But I crash and burn when it comes to just drawing. Maybe I just have terrible drawing skills.
DeleteI'm somewhat confident on graphing, but what i feel that confuses me sometimes are the direction changes. Also i still get the speed and velocity formulas confused, and how to linearize graphs i feel we should go over them some more then i might fully understand them.
ReplyDeleteYea I agree I sorta get confused with how to linearize a graph. I guess i just more have a hard time figuring out what the question is asking for.
DeleteI am not confident at all when it comes to graphing. Maybe it is just me but whenever I graph, I freak out and I do know most of the formula but when it comes to the nitty gritty, just graphing them is a pain. I sometimes have discoloration on my hands due to the graphite pencil or I have to erase a lot of it. Motion maps are becoming difficult, but im surely I will somehow survive. Maybe with a bit more practice I can succeed and unlike 75 percent of people on this blog is overconfident.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty comfortable with everything that we've been graphing, but I'm still having a hard time knowing how to make a graph that isn't linear into a linear form with out referencing the paper you handed out. Other than that, I feel confident with all the things that we've covered so far.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I need to keep working on learning the different ways of linearizing a graph without the sheet. I think it just involves practicing more.
DeleteI am 50% comfortable with graphing, I usually second guess myself or get the information confused, mostly with the formulas. I found the velocity graphs confusing but now that I am practicing with them they seem a little easier. Its just drawing the steep lines that confuse me.
ReplyDeleteI feel comfortable with everything pretty much. The only thing I'm still a bit insecure about is the motion maps. I'm reviewing more and practicing different ones as well. Working more with linearization would also help.
ReplyDeleteThere are some confusing parts in motion maps like the size of arrows and that's pretty much. However it just takes time and since studying.Yeah working with linearization would.
DeleteI am a bit confused on a little of everything still. Physics was never a strong subject for me so a lot of repetitive explaining is needed I guess its more of I get it then i forget kinda quick. One thing that really confuses me right now is graphing from words i get some things mixed up on that. I think just reviewing next week will help me fine.
ReplyDeletei honestly feel the same way! i either i remember it quickly or just forget it as a hole. The words can be confusing sometimes so i share your struggle.
DeleteI am somewhat comfortable but not really. That's why I'm staying Monday and getting some help on mostly everything. I have been studying but I'm clueless on some parts of the linearize graphs and the intersections. I'll need some review and those clickers with warm ups do help a lot because they explain mostly everything so it's fun at the same time too.
ReplyDeleteI get the concept, but I am not a 100% confident with it.
ReplyDeleteSame here.... :/ I get confused with graphing from words.
DeleteI understand the concept of graphing, and I feel kinda comfortable about it. However, those motion maps are the ones that get me struggling. I think it's because they're new to me, and I haven't really prqcticed them besides the work in class and homework. Besides them motion maps, I feel fairly comfortable to move on.
ReplyDeleteI understand the concept of graphing but the only thing that I was having trouble with was graphing a line while just looking at the motion map, mostly where to point out the initial position. However, in the end I'm pretty confident about topic.
ReplyDeleteI get the concept, but I am not too confident. I am a bit worried about the test. What worries me the most is that I can't stay on Monday for tutorials :/ I'll try my best.
ReplyDeleteI understand the graphing part of it, I just need to double check my work because I usually make mistakes that make me lose points.
ReplyDeleteshut up, you will pass! I believe in you. :D
Deleteshut up, you will pass! I believe in you. :D
DeleteI am feeling fairly uncomfortable with graphing. The motion maps are probably the only thing I'm sure about, but all I need is a little more practice on the others.
ReplyDeleteI feel really comfortable with graphing. It seems to be so simple to me, but of course, everyone understands things differently and at different paces. I am always willing to assist anyone if they need help.
ReplyDeleteAt first I didn't feel so comfortable with the graphing of velocity but now that one of my fellow classmates took the time to explain the concept to me I feel much more confident. I still think a bit of more practice wouldn't hurt anyone.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while but I'm starting to understand graphing a little more easier now that before. A little more practice wouldn't hurt anyone though.

ReplyDeleteWell to be honest I'm struggling with most of it a little bit on all of them. I really need help I want to improve in those areas.
ReplyDeleteYea that's the truth practices makes perfect.
ReplyDeleteYea that's be the truth practices makes perfect.
ReplyDeletei'm having trouble on how to tell the difference between the slowing down graphes and the speeding up graphes in the velocity graphs.
ReplyDeleteGraphs are generally easy to understand but once adding the factors of acceleration and velocity it takes a little more brainpower at first to understand, but other than that it with some work and questioning I think I can get it.
