Week 8 Blog, Due Sunday, October 20th by 11:00pm
We are almost finished with the first 9 weeks! Time is flying by! This week I want you to reflect on the notes and labs you have done and put in your interactive notebook. If you were me and you were going to grade your own notebook, what grade do you think it deserves? How useful are the notes you have put into it so far? Do your notes help you with the homework assignments, studying for tests, completing warm ups, etc? If your notebook has not been a useful tool for you to use in or out of the classroom, what needs to change to make it useful? Remember, I will be looking at your notebook on either Tuesday or Wednesday so don't tell me its the best notebook ever and then have nothing in it. Blog Reminders: You must post and original comment PLUS comment on someone else's notebook in order to receive full credit for the blog. If you have questions, you must contact be BEFORE Sunday evening. If you have trouble posting to blogger, post your comment and replies on edmodo.com or send it to me in an email at physicswithego@gmail.com. Happy Blogging!

Honestly, I have not been keeping up with my notebook. I just stuff all my papers in it. Everything is in there, but it is not organized. The notes and labs that we have done and recorded on our notebooks have, however, helped me to a certain extent. They refresh my memory on what we've learned in class.
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one Immer, I also need to organize my work in accordance to my newly updated table of contents.
DeleteI am as guilty as Immer, I have everything, but it isn't the least organized. I just need to tape things down still. I will get it done before you check and my notebook has helped me wonders as well.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone is guilty of not keeping trackof their nnotebook. Myself included.
DeleteMy notebook is unorganized, I have papers everywhere and I need ro update my table of content. The notebook is useful although it is unorganized, but if I fixed it then it would work out better for me.
ReplyDeleteMy notebook is also very unorganized. We should try to organize it over the weekend so it can be more useful to us.
DeleteMine too! whenever we get new worksheets they just get put in there. My table of contents was also not updated, but I fixed it. Now the notebook looks more organized!
DeleteI guess that makes four of us, you guys. My notebook as of this moment would probably earn me a 50. I have all my notes written down, but all my work has just been tucked away inside. I would say my notes have been pretty useful so far because they've helped me complete two homework assignments. The only thing left for me to do is get my notebook organized over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure almost everyone hasn't organized their journals yet. I think we can just be too lazy to glue in our notes, and that's just about everyone's problem. However, I agree with you, the notes do help me out with homework sometimes.
DeleteI'm having the same problem too. My notebook is not organized.
DeleteMy notebook has all the notes I need/ we have taken, but it is very unorganized. I need to keep up with the table of contents so I know which notes go on which page. Every time we get worksheets or graded papers back I just fold them and put them in my notebook which only makes it look worse. I will try to get my notebook organized asap so it can actually help me more with my homework or other assignments.
ReplyDeleteSame here I never really glue it in. I just stick it in the notebook and say I will do it later, but i'll get it glued in by the time we get our notebooks checked.
DeleteHonestly I think i'm doing pretty good with my notebook I think I would get like a 80 or something. The reason I wouldn't get full points is because I don't have all my labs glued in.I mean everything is there just not stuck on the correct pages. And the notes we have take thus far are very helpful. Especially the fold-able I've found it very helpful on the homework and some class work. I think we should do some more in the future for other units.
ReplyDeleteYes! I love fold-ables. I hope Mrs.Ego does more of them.
DeleteLike everybody else in this class, I took notes, they’re not the best but they’re still there in my notebook. If I could predict my grade for the notebook it’ll probably be there somewhere between 0 and 69. I tried a different approach this year by not having to refer back to my notebook since I felt that having to do so would slow down my progress in understanding the subject, that and I don't got the time. Don’t get me wrong, it’s useful to have a notebook filled with a bunch of material that may help recall something that was forgotten but I just don’t want to depend on my notebook for understanding physics. Otherwise, it’s kind of like a physics student who doesn’t understand physics without his notebook and that’s just depressing. Though, I am going to organize the stuff in it because it’s a grade. I have till Monday.
ReplyDeleteMrs.Ego in all truth i do not like my notebook. It's confusing for me because I don't ever know if I'm putting my stuff on the same page as you or if I have the same information. I would much prefer if i could organize my notebook on my own instead of using your guidelines. I just feel that i would learn better that way. So Mrs.Ego is it okay if I get a new notebook and organize it my own way? And as of right now my notebook would probably be a 80% because i have a few worksheets that are just tucked into my notebook.
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't really fancy the standardized notebook concept either. It would be much more effective if I were to just organize it in a way that appeals to me the most.
DeleteI agree, well partially. I'm not saying I would prefer to organize the journal in my own way, but it would be nice if we could at least take 10 mins in class to update our journal, that way it becomes easier for everyone. In psychology, we also kept a journal, but we went through it together as a class, and it was much easier to keep organized.
DeleteIf I were to grade my own notebook, I would give myself a 70-80. It is not the most organized. When I make it a little more neat, the grade would be a little higher. The notes that I've taken do help me on some assignments, but there are some terms I have to google to fully understand them. To make the notebook a little more useful, I think it would be more helpful to have practice problems next to the notes, so I have something to go back to as a reference. I was glad that we started doing that last Friday!
ReplyDeleteI agree. The practice problems with the notes on the side was a great idea and hopefully we continue to do that.
DeleteI completely agree the side practuce problems really help understand the concept & I also have to google stuff to fully understand but hopefully by using the method we did on friday will stop the misunderstanding
DeleteYeah I'm not so organized with my notebook either. To be honest I'm lazy to glue everything down but other than that, my notebook is decent. I also like examples/practice problems that we have in our notes. The examples are what helps me a lot with homework!
DeleteI feel my notebook would fall under a B or C range. Like others have said, my notebook is really unorganized. I just feel as if some stuff are being left half-way done. Many of my notes/labs just don't feel completed. I have everything glued in but i still have a lot of papers loose and I'm unsure what to with them. My notebook is helpful though. I always refer back to it whether it be with homework or assignments in class. All I need to is stay better in track with the organization of it.
ReplyDeletei agree with you it is helpful but i too need to be more organized which helps stay better on track.
DeleteI think my notebook would be about a B, beacuse i have all my notes and papers glued in but i have some notes in the front just sitting there but i don't know if they should be glued in or not which makes it seem unorganized. Other than that it is a good study guide but i don't use it as much as i wished i would.
ReplyDeleteI know, my notebook has papers tucked away. I'm not sure where exactly to glue them down..
DeleteAna M.
I have a lot of loose paper. I should probably get that out the way too
DeleteRight now if you were to shake my journal upside down a bunch of papers will fall out. Therefore I know where everything goes but I get too lazy to glue things down. I really like to use the journal to reflect on things I can't remember so the notes we take in class & the labs are really helpful even though I missed a few labs.
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't get a very good grade on my notebook if I were to turn it in as it is. I have papers everywhere and I am confused with what goes on what page etc. It honestly hasn't helped me too much with assignments due to the fact that it is very unorganized, but I will try my best to fix it.
ReplyDeleteAna M.
Same here Ana. I am also confused with what goes where because I haven't kept up with the page numbers. I don't even want to use it because it's so unorganized. I will also try my best to fix it so that it may become a more useful tool!
DeleteYup, I lost my journal, had a lot of loose leaf papers scattered around my binder that do not have a place to go. I am probably one of the most unorganized people around to date.
DeleteI think that I would receive a decent grade on my notebook. I keep up on my notes, although there are a few papers that I just shoved in there in a hurry. Nothing I can't fix of course. Some papers have helped me refresh anything that I was having trouble remembering, so I can say that it has helped me a bit.
ReplyDeleteJust some glue or tape will fix the rest of your notebook.
DeleteThe notes really do help me with my home work. I'm just not very well organized. My notebook would bed like at a 70-80 if I organize it maybe a 80-85
ReplyDeletesame here i just fold papers and stuff them in my backpack or journal
Deletethe notes do help me alot and i do understand my notes but i am very unorganized and i have trouble of remembering to glue papers in other than that, the notes are good and i would give my journal a 75-85
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I would not give myself higher than a 75. I personally feel as if my journal is SUPER unorganized and i do not like how i have not kept up with it. I keep up with my class notes and labs, but i just throw all of my folded papers into the journal. the fact that my notebook looks so sloppy and unorganized makes me not want to use it. However, some of the work that i put into the journal actually helps me review and figure out my homework. What i need to do is to spend time and organize it. Once i MAKE it organized, it'll motivate me to KEEP it organized.
ReplyDeleteDavid as we go omg in class don't just throw stuff in your note book but staple them or glue them. like that they wont get lost. I glue them so I.know where they are at at all times.
DeleteI think that you are being a bit too harsh on yourself, because I have seen your journal and you just need to glue the handouts, just like me.
DeleteMy notebook has help me a little more since we have been taking more notes. I think we should do it more often. they do help me with my homework and I think they will help me with my warm up. I do need to add more stuff to get a higher grade on the notebook check. I think right now I would get a dissent grade since.I'm not don't with it. we need to add more stuff though! -Lucero Muñoz
ReplyDeleteI do not keep up with my notebook at all, that is due to my own personal error. I lost it a couple of days ago, and I didn't really know what to put into it. I really do need help with my journal. And for my grade, I don't know really. I didn't really think much for my notebook. Best I could do is something at least passing.
ReplyDeleteI agree, ita difficult to keep up with everything.
Deleteyeah i had lost my notebook as well but for much longer than a couple of days. i now will always put it back in my backpack immediately after class.
DeleteIf I were to grade my own notebook, I'd probably give myself a 75-85. I have almost everything in there; the only things I need to do is glue some worksheets down. Personally, I like having a journal because everything I need is in there. I think it is very dependable however sometimes I don't always refer back to it when I have questions which is my fault. But after the previous homework assignment, I realized everything I need is in my notebook so I will be referring back to it more often, now.
ReplyDeleteMy notebook is pretty decent its like a 80.I look at notes when I have trouble remembering or just to get my homework done faster with similar related things. Its bery usefull for the future and now to remember.
ReplyDeleteSometimes certain things are hard to find.
DeleteI would give my self a 85 because I have everything in the but it's not the most organizedorganized journal out there. To make my journal better I would include little written explanations so that later on I l could recall it better.
ReplyDeleteI would give myself between 80-85 because I have all the notes and note handouts, but the only problem is that it could need more organization because some of the handouts need to be glued. However, I think that is decent and it has been useful when I needed it.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly how i feel!
DeleteI think my notebook is fine when it comes to notes. I have glued most things i think i might be missing one or two things. Nothing major. I'd give my notebook a 75-80 probably. The only thing that i haven't kept up with is my table of contents.
ReplyDeleteI would give my notebook around a 75-80 because i have most of the notes if not then they're just drawn in. They do end up coming in handy along with the labs. I just need to make sure I organize it more than what it is now.
ReplyDeleteMy notebook deserves an f because it was lost for a while, so its incomplete. It's no where near immaculate. Honesty Level: 1000
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! I remember you lost it! You also did not keep up with the worksheets. Hopefully you find them in time for notebook check!
DeleteI really like your honesty ! I shall remind you to keep track of your stuff :)
DeleteI completely agree with you ivan mine deserves an f also. But hopefully we can fix it so it can be better.
DeleteMy notebook is well put together. I think I deserves a high A I just need tho finish up my unit pages and I will be in good standing. I think our notes are mostly just work sheets and labs no explanations or formulas so I don't really use it for homework I just look up the formulas on Google. I like our most recent notes though i use those the one ones Kinematics and the other formulas.
ReplyDeleteMy notebook deserves perhaps around a low A . I have most of the notes but some stuff are out of order. I just neet to focus more on organizing my notes so they can come handy,
ReplyDeleteI believe my notebook deserves a B-.I have most of the stuff down except for some loose papers.
ReplyDeletethat is exactly what is wrong with my journal. i plan on keeping it more organized from now on
DeleteI think that i should receive a high B because there are some loose sheets but i have all the notes.
ReplyDeleteMy journal has been a real help but there stuff I'm missing and I need to finish putting them in there. Plus I have a lot of notes and an old assignments to help me remember what we learned a while back.
ReplyDeleteIts important to have notes on every stuff we covered to have as a look back. It makes your journal useful later on when we need it to review for the Ap test.
ReplyDeleteThat's really true Jose. That's why I try to keep my table of contents up to date.
DeleteMy notebook would get a really low grade due to it's lack of organization. The notes and everything else is there but it's just everywhere. I just need to try to make sure everything is in the right place for now on.
ReplyDeleteAs you see the first time graded i got a 30 and that was due to the fact that i had lost it for like about 2 weeks and never wrote the notes on a seperate sheet of paper to transfer it in a new notebook. however the morning of when notebook check was i had found it under my bed but it was too late. i know now i must never misplaced my notebook because it is a big part of our class. the notes i take are decent but this next 9 weeks i will be more specific in note taking. i want to get a 100 next time there is a notebook check.
ReplyDeleteI would give my notebook a B, it has all the notes however it is not organized efficiently. Finding something take a lot of page flipping but it does contain all the material needed for all the work.
ReplyDeleteI think my notebook deserves an B I have most of everything in it I just need to input a few graphs here and there. I definatly think my notebook is useful for homework or studying because I keep it organized
