Semester II Week 1 Blog: Due Sunday, January 26th by 11:00 pm
Since we are at the beginning of the new semester and everyone gets a fresh start, it is time to reflect on our successes and failures of the first semester. Do you feel you received the grade that you earned? Do you feel your grade does not accurately reflect the time and effort you put in to the class? Since the second semester will move faster with a higher workload, is there anything you need to change to be as successful or more successful than you were in the first semester? What are your goals for the new semester? What plans do you have to prepare for the AP test which is the afternoon of May 12th? Remember, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. In other words, if you were not as successful as you would have liked in the first semester, you must change your behavior in order to improve the outcome for the second semester. I look forward to reading your reflections and goals for the new semester. You must post an original comment PLUS comment on someone else's post in order to receive full credit for the blog. My grade did reflect my work. I was completely lost the entire semester although I did try to understand the material it just didn't work well. I need to figure out a way for me to focus more and understand the class better. I need to change the way I do my work in order to prepare for the AP test. Hopefully this semester goes better than the last one.
ReplyDeleteI need to figure out a way to focus more too, because when you don't understand something everything else just starts piling up. Next thing you know you're lost and have know idea what they're talking about.
DeleteI felt lost too this semester, but hopefully I too can find a way to better focus on my work.
DeleteI was also lost this entire semester! I do need to focus a lot better and actually stay for tutorials when I need to.
DeleteYes, Focus. I really need to start to focus in class and not get so distracted. I believe if you start focusing your grades will improve and you will have a better chance of passing the AP exam.
DeleteI don't know but, sometimes believing is much more important than focusing. If someone believes that they could do it. The reaction from what is known from believing can escalate some of the neural passages and spark more connections between neurons. Same thing that the belief of a religion implies. So dedicating time and study to Physics while under a positive behavior can do more than "focus".
DeleteYes, I deserve the grade I received for the first semester. My grades do reflect the work I put in. What I need to change in the way I do things would be to stay after school and do my homework. Because when I go home most of the time I get stuck and can't finish it on my own or I forget about it. My goals for this semester is to pick up my grade and strive to understand my physics assignments better, My plans to prepare for the AP test is to devote more time into studying.
ReplyDeleteI believe you will do better if you dedicate more study time to physics and focus in class. I volunteer to help tutor you, which will benefit both you and me, if you want.
DeleteI believe that I do deserve the grade in the class, and that it accurately reflects my work. Although, there have been moments when I did not understand a concept, but later did catch on. I will need to eliminate all factors of procrastination to focus on my schoolwork, thus leading me towards success. My goals are to ace all upcoming tests and homework assignments and score a 5 on the AP test. My main preparation plan for the AP test is to complete all my homework assignments and read through an AP study guide.
ReplyDeleteEdgar, I feel the same way. We should form a study group!
DeleteI believe that I earned my grade for first semester. It did reflect my time and effort in the especially since I when from failing to passing. There been times I didn't really understood a concept and later on I started understanding it little by little. I really need to stay more and practice on my weak areas. Also continue doing my homework and ask questions about the things I don't understand more often. Theses are my goals in order to hopefully get a 3 or 4 on the AP test.
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to start asking more questions and practicing would help me over all. Something that helped me in the beginning a lot was looking at YouTube videos or going online. You'd be surprise how much help there is out there.
DeleteI believe that you Edgar can accomplish your goals and get a 5 on the AP test. Just keep doing what your doing and work hard. And if you can tutor me too as well.
ReplyDeleteMy grade did reflect the time and effort i put into the class, if not more. I think one of my biggest issues was my patience. I would either get too frustrated or confused, then I would just give up and shut down. In the beginning, when i didn't understand something, I would continue to try and find other sources to help. But as the semester went on, I would just leave it alone. I'm aware that if i do not change my habits, I will have no hope of passing the exam. So my goal this semester is to find a steady routine for myself that gives me time to specifically focus on this class and subject.
ReplyDeleteYes, I sometimes felt frustrated and overwhelmed by a problem and would just give up, however I have seen that, that is not the solution but rather a bigger problem. Instead, we have to keep practicing and practicing.
DeleteI also feel that frustration when we dont understand something doesnt allow us to be able to understand it or work through it. I think we need to set time aside to try & learn how to do it even if it takes a while.
DeleteYea. I could tell when you would just stop trying. Like they said, practice and patience. You shouldn't just stop when you don't get something. Work through it. I'll also try and help you in class when we can.
DeleteI believe that my grade does reflect the effort that I have put into the class. However, the biggest issue that I have had is making little and insignificant mistakes in tests which have caused my grade to be lower than what I expected. Therefore, I have to concentrate more when taking a test in order to score high. As for my plan, I will do the same thing that I have done in the past and that's to study and practice, because I believe that the best teacher is the practice.
ReplyDeleteSame here, I want to improve my testing strategies.
DeleteAna M.
That issue is also an issue for myself. I also tend to make silly mistakes during the test which affect my grade. I agree that practice is essential to score high. I want to improve my test taking strategies, as Ana has mentioned, and i feel it will help us reduce those silly mistakes and get familiar with the layout of the AP test.
DeleteI feel that I did receive the grade that I deserved. I was lost this first semester though I did understand some concepts but it wasn't enough to get through the whole semester. This upcoming semester I feel as if I have to catch up from what I don't already know and learn it with the new material, but I have bought the 5-steps to a 5 book and I really hope that helps to study and learn. My goals for this upcoming semester is to actually understand what is being taught and not lose hope when learning new difficult material.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I want to teach myself everything I missed first semester (because I was pretty lost as well) in order to understand the concepts we will learn in this semester. I also think getting 5 steps to a 5 book is a great idea!
DeleteI think study guides like that will because it has actual ap questions. I will try too to catch up with the things i missed during the first semester and a guide will go great help.
DeleteI was lost as well, but didn't make the effort to get it and decided to just put it aside instead of asking questions.
DeleteI feel as if my grade reflected the effort & time that i put into the class. I was pleased with my grade. However, i do believe that i can study & work harder in order to have a better understanding of the material. There was a lot of concepts that i didnt really understand or that were hard to work with while taking a test. By changing my study habits it will help me in order to have a better chance at passing the AP exam.
ReplyDeleteUnlike you, I wasn't pleased with my grade. That's why I'm going to change my study habits as well. (:
DeleteI definitely believe I deserved the grade I received in the class. I kept up with all of my class work as well as my homework and attempted to try even if I did not understand the concepts. In order to do better this semester and do well on the AP test, I think I should try to study more and come to tutorials every time I have questions on something I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteI as well need to set aside some time to study physics daily.
DeleteI feel like I deserve the grade I received because I didn't try my best to understand the concept. My grade did accurately reflect the time and effort I put into the class. In order to understand the new concepts we go over as a class, I'm going to pay more attention and stay after school for tutorials. I'm willing to come to Saturday tutorials ,if necessary, to make sure I get the grade I want.
ReplyDeleteas you erik, i am willing to stay after school and come every Saturday possible
DeleteI definitely deserve the grade I received this semester. It wasn't bad, but I could've done better. I have to admit that this year, I am having problems in my math-related classes. I understand the material until the tests. I feel like I need to relax more and worry a little less before tests. I've noticed how that certain problem affects my mood as well. Studying a bit more will probably give me more confidence in the future, especially for the AP test.
ReplyDeleteAna M.
I personally feel like i deserved the grade that i received this semester. Although I put a lot of effort and time into this class, i feel like the second semester I'm going to have to pick up the pace. I occasionally slack off, and for the 2nd semester i plan to not do that. My goals for this new semester is to keep up with the workload and if i need help, then i will attend tutorials with my peers or i will continue to watch youtube videos to understand the concept.
ReplyDeleteTutorials helped me. I haven't tried youtube for help but I will definitely try that this semester!
DeleteI think my grade did reflect what I put in. I wasn't always lost and I understood a lot of things here and there. Sometimes I just get kind of lucky. One thing I plan on continuing to do is asking questions. This semester I want to put in more time into the class since I work and can't stay for tutorials. I want to pass the AP test so I need to get more focused as well.
ReplyDeleteI definitely deserved the grade I finished with but I didn't like it. I need to ask more questions and really try and study. I didn't do any of my homework so that needs to change. I really just need to put my mind to it I know I can do it. I think having 3rd period intervention in this class is gonna help some but I just need to learn to pay attention and teach my self if needed.
ReplyDeleteI would do all the homeork assignments and review packets and they really helped me, so I think doing the homework could also help Gary.
DeleteI feel the same. My grade was a relection of the work i put in which is telling me that i need to work harder.
DeleteI feel like the grade i got was the one that I deserved even though i could have done better. I will try to move faster with the work load that we will be getting on this semester and to do that I will change the how much i study. My goals for this semester is to get on all my work. I dont want to turn in things incomplete so i will take the time to do the homework and to study more. I will also study with other people to see if we could help each other or to know in what are we having difficulties. Then we can be successful in the semester and on the AP test. ---- Denisse Munoz
ReplyDeleteTeamwork is good because some people may know your flaws.
DeleteI think working in a team would be good because like that they will teach us what we missed out in class
DeleteI feel as if I did receive the grade I deserved for the work that I put into first semester. I do not fully understand everything in the class, which is one huge issue I have, to better myself in the class the only thing i can think of is going to tutorials. If I have any chance of passing the AP test I would definitely need to study more often. I really hope that this next semester my grade will remain at an A.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. Maybe we could review after school one day!
DeleteWell I feel that I deserved my grade to an extent. I can safely say that I know 30-45 percent of what is happening right now. I definetly need more practice to understand the class better.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I need tons more practice to fully understand everything being taught!
Deletei feel the same joe. Some things i truly understand but for a little more than the majority i'm like... wut. but we can try to get it this semester, hopefully.
DeleteI think I deserve the grade I got. I worked hard to keep my grade. Even tough I did not get everything was going on I did try to do all my assignments. I try getting help from other to understand all the topics covered in class. I hope my grade stays an A this upcoming semester as well. I need to better prepare myself for this AP exam. I need to start showing up to tutorials and pay better attention in class.
ReplyDeleteI do deserve the grades that I got. The way I'll change them is to just focus more and ask for help. To prepare for the AP test I'll put more time to physics. I'm going to stay more days to tutorials.
ReplyDeleteI took my grade with a grain of salt. It is sort of like a red flag. Maybe I should've taken all of the benefits or the requirements to stay afloat. But I didn't. I mean I even forgot that the blog was rolling and I'm probably going to get a 70 on it or so. So I am not rolling on the recommended road. But hopefully, all I could do is do better than last semester.
ReplyDeleteMy grade reflected exactly what I did in first semester. I was distracted, lost and I didnt do anything to my full potential. I know I can do better if I just focus and I want that to be a change for this semester. I hope I can maintain a high B atleast and being capable of passing the AP test.
ReplyDeletemy grade in class did showed the effort I put into the class this semester. I wantst given the motivation to keep going after I got lost in a problem. I will improve my grade as well get ready for the AP testby going to tutorials more often an maybe do a stodgy group with someclass mates so they can explain me better the concept better. I hope I get better at phisics and pass the AP test.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Lucero. Motivation will be key for a successful semester, since things will get tougher for us. Getting help from friends is also a good idea!
DeleteMy grade did reflect my effort in the class this semester. In order to be successful this semester, I will try to remember to do my homework. I had the habit of forgetting. Also, I will also pay more attention in class. My goals are to have my homework finished on time, and to be well prepared for the AP test in May. In order to prepare for the AP test, I'm going to buy an AP prep book for physics so I can study more.
ReplyDeleteI don't feel like my grade reflected my effort this semester but I will try harder this second semester in order to succeed with a higher grade by doing homework and trying to keep up with blogs. In order to be prepared for the AP test in may I will study and get into a study group so we can help each other out.
ReplyDeleteYes! I have a really hard time remembering about the blogs. Its a good thing that Mrs.Ego sends a text message to remind us about it.
DeleteI do think that the grade I earned reflected my effort this past semester. Although my grade was passing I still felt as though I could have done so much better. Thankfully this semester I have you for 3rd period and I can finally get more of your assignments and homework done. My problem with physics is that I get the basics of each topic but once we get more into detail I get confused and then I get mad and just give up. I'm thinking about printing out some AP Free Responses from past years to get some practice for the AP test.
ReplyDeletei really believed i deserved the grade i got on the first semester because i understood enough to pass. the second nine weeks i really got confused and frustrated so i kind of just gave up and just hoped to do good in the final. That backfired because i failed the second nine weeks, but now i really plan on kicking up a notch. i am planning on attending tutorials occasionally and completing blogs and homework. also i will not stay quiet in class when i really need help as i did the first semester. i am planning to buy an AP Physics book review and read the textbook to ensure i am caught up and really focusing more on passing the AP test.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you chanchis because i would do the same thing and it backfired on me as well. I think buying an AP Physics book will be an excellent idea!
DeleteI believe my grade did reflect my my effort put into this class. There were times that I would not understand a concept, and I'd spend extra time on youtube and other sites trying to understand the concept better. This is why I feel like I deserved the grade that I got. However, I can definitely improve my grade. To do so, I need to rid of all distractions and procrastination.
ReplyDeleteThats the problem I have. I get distracted reallu easily so i need to go my own way and try to focus more in class or try watching videos on Youtube as you mentioned it in your post .
DeleteI feel like my grade did not reflect the effort I put into the class. I think that the only reason I have a higher grade is because of how well I did on the final, and I believe that I got lucky with that grade. I will have to stay for A LOT of tutoring, watch youtube videos, and find different ways to study so I can be successful in the class. My goal is to at least understand the material that is being taught in class and to try to grasp each concept.
ReplyDeleteSame here, I feel that I have to study much more than what I have been doing. My best chance in understanding the concepts we've covered in class is to study outside of class not just within.
DeleteI feel that i rightfully deserve the grade i got for the semester because i slacked off a lot and that caused me to fail. I will have to stay after school for tutoring. Ill have to stay 100% focused in class because when I get distracted I dont get anything done. Ill have to start asking more questions instead of just sitting there hoping i get something .
ReplyDeleteThe first semester feels as if it had passed too quickly but in no way does that mean I’m complaining. No, I’m actually pretty comfortable with my grade but regardless I know that I still must improve. My standing in physics at the moment makes me question whether or not I’ll fare well in the AP Physics exam. The concepts we’ve covered in class were easy but at times did and still do seem a little complex. I know that I have to change tactics and must go further than what’s being taught in class or I won’t stand much of a chance against the AP Physics exam.
ReplyDeleteThe first semester definetely flew by. I didn't work as hard as i could've which reflects on my grade. I do believe i deserved the grade i got, i dont like it at all but it could've been worse. I am going to start completing my blogs again and turning in all of my homework. Also, i have a planner. Maybe i should start using it.
ReplyDeleteMy first semester grade was actually higher than expected. I didn't work diligently throughout he semester like i should have. The time that this comment was posted accurately reflects me last semester; I never turned in anything and when i did it was either late or incomplete. There is one thing and one thing only that i need to change for next semester; I NEED TO START DOING HOMEWORK!
ReplyDeletei think my grade was ok. it could of been higher but i know i was falling off towards the end. I'm going to do more work this semester now that i'm learning how to adequately manage my time.
ReplyDeleteManaging my time is something I don't have a problem with. But learning things is something I guess I have a problem with. But that will improve, just need to open my ears a bit more.
DeleteI completely failed the 1st semester, maybe not by much but still is a fail to myself. I just hope this 2nd semester will be better and actually do work and learn. But I guess everything is on me. Just trying to graduate.
